Pat Ballard, Democratic Candidate for Circuit Judge, Place 10, Jefferson County, Alabama

Learn More About Pat Ballard

Pat Ballard attended Texas A&M University where he graduated with a degree in Animal Science, Ranch Management in 1976. While in school, he worked as a cowboy and farm hand as he had during his last two years of high school.

With college behind him, he began working as a carpenter, sometimes for other companies and at other times, as the owner of his own business.

After a 15-year career in carpentry, Pat decided to go back to school. He attended Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham on a full scholarship and earned his law degree in 1996.

Since then, he has practiced almost exclusively in the Circuit Courts of Alabama and the Federal District Courts in Alabama, handling civil litigation ranging from simple automobile collisions to complex product liability cases and business disputes.

In addition to his law practice, Pat Ballard is active in civic affairs. He is the co-chair of The Community Affairs Committee of REV Birmingham (formerly known as Operation New Birmingham) and, in that capacity, is leading a campaign to design and install a special Monument to the Footsoldiers to be located at the entrance to Kelly Ingram Park. He is the President of the Central City Neighborhood Association and a member of the Steering Committee of Birmingham Community Policing and Revitalization ("CPR") (form known as "Birmingahm Weed and Seed"), a non-profit community revitalization program.

Pat Ballard is also an avid musician and runner. He is a member of the Magic City Blues Society and the Birmingham Track Club. Pat Ballard is also an active member of Church of the Highlands, where he serves on the worship team.
